A kids baking birthday party at home with Cookiddoo runs 2 hours and costs $485 for 8 children, $50 per extra child up to 11. The birthday child picks one of three baking menus — Cupcake Party, Mini Bento Cakes or Chocolate Brownies — and every guest mixes, bakes and decorates their own dessert, then makes a drink to go with it. We bring the ingredients, tools, aprons and chef hats, and we clean up. You provide a table with power and water and an oven, which baking menus need. We come to homes across Ottawa and Gatineau.
The three baking menus
| Menu | What every child does | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Cupcake Party | Mixes the batter, fills the liners, then frosts and decorates their own cupcakes | Mixed ages; the youngest guests love the decorating |
| Mini Bento Cakes | Bakes a small personal cake and decorates it with their own design | Kids who like drawing; each cake looks different |
| Chocolate Brownies | Mixes, bakes and decorates a tray of brownies to share | Chocolate fans, and groups who want something to take home |
Each child also makes one themed drink: Mango Lemonade, Chocolate Milkshake, Strawberry Mojito (alcohol-free), Tropical Smoothie or Piña Colada (kid version). Prefer something savoury? The same party works with pizza, fresh pasta, mini burgers or chicken nuggets — see all menus on the mobile parties page.
How the two hours go
| Time | What happens |
|---|---|
| 0:00–0:15 | We arrive early, set up stations, hand out aprons and chef hats, everyone washes hands |
| 0:15–1:15 | Hands-on baking: mixing, filling, baking, then frosting and decorating while the drink gets made |
| 1:15–2:00 | Tasting, Happy Birthday and candles while our team cleans up |
Baking time is planned inside the hour of cooking: small portions bake fast, and the kids decorate the first batch while the next one is in the oven.
What you need at home
- A table or counter where all the kids fit, with power and water nearby.
- An oven: cupcakes, bento cakes and brownies are baked on site. No oven free? We switch to a no-cook menu so the party still runs.
- Enough room for the group to stand or sit at the table.
We bring everything else: ingredients, utensils, piping bags, decorations for the baking zone if you want them, gloves, aprons and portable equipment. Add-ons: balloon decor from $55 and a piñata with confetti from $55.
Which ages a baking party suits
Ages 4 to 15. Our instructors split the work by age: four- to six-year-olds pour, stir, fill liners and decorate; from about 7 kids measure and mix on their own; older kids handle the whole recipe and pipe their own frosting. One instructor runs a group of up to 10, with an assistant from the 11th child. For 12- to 15-year-olds see also teen cooking classes.
Baking party vs a bakery or venue party
A venue party saves your living room, and you pay for it with travel time, a fixed slot and a room shared with other groups. At home the kids bake in a familiar space, the birthday child is the only one celebrating, and siblings can join without a ticket. We compared both, with real Ottawa prices, in mobile birthday party vs party venue. For a party where the kids cook a full meal, read cooking birthday parties for kids in Ottawa.
Frequently asked questions
How much is a kids baking birthday party at home?
$485 for 8 children, $50 for each extra child up to 11. A $150 deposit holds the date and is credited to the total. The travel fee is arranged individually depending on location.
Do we need an oven for a baking party?
Yes, cupcakes, bento cakes and brownies are baked at your place. With no oven free, we pick a no-cook menu instead.
Can the kids take their cupcakes home?
Yes. Kids usually eat some at the party and pack the rest; bring a few boxes or ask us when you book.
Is there a birthday cake too?
You can serve your own cake at the candles moment. Many families let the kids’ desserts be the cake: the birthday child’s bento cake gets the candle.
What about allergies?
Tell us about every guest’s allergies when you book. We plan the menu around them wherever possible and confirm the details with you before the party.
Can the party be in French?
Yes, we run parties in English and French, in Ottawa and Gatineau.
How far ahead should we book?
Weekends go first, especially in October–December. Send the date, your address and the number of kids as soon as you know them.
Ready to cook with us?
