COMMUNITY PROGRAMS IN OTTAWA

Kids Cooking Workshops for Community Centres, Camps and Youth Groups

Cookiddoo brings hands-on cooking workshops to community centres, day camps, libraries, faith communities and youth clubs across Ottawa. Book one workshop for a theme day, or a short 4–6 week or 8–10 week series. Children cook in small groups with Food Handler certified instructors, and we bring everything and clean up.

Formats

  • One-time workshop: a single session for a camp theme day, holiday program or open house.
  • Short series (4–6 weeks): a themed block within a recreation season.
  • Weekly series (8–10 weeks): skills that build week after week.

What children learn

Measuring and following a recipe, kitchen safety and hygiene, teamwork and tidying the workspace. Knife skills are taught from age 7.

Frequently asked questions

Do you run cooking workshops at community centres in Ottawa?

Yes. Our instructors come to your community centre, library, faith hall or club room anywhere in Ottawa with ingredients, tools and aprons, teach the workshop and clean up afterwards.

Can you add a cooking day to our day camp?

Yes. Camps book a one-time workshop for a theme day or a short series across the season. Tell us the camp dates, group size and ages and we plan the sessions.

How long is each session?

Session length follows the age of the group: about 45 minutes for the youngest kids (up to age 5), 60–75 minutes for ages 5–9, 75 minutes for ages 9–12 and 75–90 minutes for ages 12–15.

How many children can join one session?

Up to 10 children per instructor. We add an assistant from 11 children, and one session can include up to 30 children.

What if our space has no kitchen?

We use a no-cook format that needs tables only: no-bake recipes, food assembly, decorating and nutrition education. With an oven and stove we can also run menus such as pizza, pasta or cupcakes.

What does a workshop cost?

Workshops and series are quoted by the number of sessions, group size and location. Send the details through the form and we reply with a proposal.

How do you handle allergies?

Our instructors are Food Handler certified and follow nut-free protocols. Share allergy information before the first session.

Is this the same as your school program?

The format is the same as our school & daycare programs, planned around a recreation schedule. Groups can also visit our Kanata studio on a cooking field trip.

Other formats: mobile cooking parties & workshops in Ottawa, kids cooking station for corporate and public events.
