The Wednesday course: Junior Chef Academy
The fall 2026 group runs on Wednesdays from 5:30 to 7:30 PM, October 21 to December 16, with no class on November 11. The same group of up to 10 children cooks together every week with a lead coach and an assistant, and each class adds one technique: knife safety, eggs and heat control, fresh pasta, pastry and custard, meat and safe temperatures, yeast dough, choux pastry, and a final cooking challenge where the kids plan and plate a full meal.
For Kanata families the timing is the main draw. School is out by mid-afternoon, so a 5:30 start leaves time for homework or a snack, and pickup at 7:30 is a short drive home for most of Kanata: OpenStreetMap routing puts the Kanata Leisure Centre area about 6 minutes from class without traffic, and the Richcraft Recreation Complex area about 11.
