FAQ

A poke bowl is a Hawaiian-style rice bowl. In this Ottawa kids cooking class each child builds their own bowl on a rice or quinoa base, topped with salmon in a honey-soy glaze plus fresh avocado, mango, cucumber and radish.
The salmon is fully cooked, not raw. Kids marinate the fish and roast it in a honey glaze, so it is safe and kid-friendly while they still learn to handle and cook fish.
Young chefs practise knife skills slicing avocado, cucumber, mango and radish, learn to marinate and roast salmon, whisk a balanced dressing, and plate a colourful bowl - real flavour-pairing and presentation techniques.
The bowl features salmon, rice or quinoa, avocado, mango, cucumber and radish with a honey-soy dressing. It contains fish, soy, sesame and wheat; let us know at booking and we can adapt the recipe.
The class suits kids aged 6 to 15. It is a hands-on 2-hour drop-off session for up to 10 children at the Cookiddoo studio in Kanata, Ottawa, with guidance at every step.
Each child takes home the poke bowl they assembled, a step-by-step recipe to remake it, and a personalized certificate - plus new confidence working with fish and fresh produce.
