Each child makes a real Margherita pizza from scratch: kneading and stretching the dough, spreading Italian-style tomato sauce, adding mozzarella and finishing with fresh basil before it is baked. This hands-on kids cooking class in Kanata, Ottawa sends every child home with the pizza they made themselves.
A true Margherita uses just a few ingredients in the three colours of the Italian flag: red tomato sauce, white mozzarella and green fresh basil, all on hand-kneaded dough brushed with olive oil. Children learn why this simple combination is one of Italy's most famous pizzas.
Kids practise kneading and hand-stretching pizza dough, balancing sauce and cheese so the pizza is not soggy, tearing fresh basil, and safely working with the oven. These are the real basics every young pizzaiolo starts with.
The class is designed for ages 4 to 15 and runs as a two-hour drop-off session for a small group of up to 10 children in our Cookiddoo studio in Kanata, Ottawa, so every child gets hands-on time.
Your child takes home the Margherita pizza they baked themselves, packed in a box so it travels safely, plus a step-by-step recipe card and a personalised certificate to keep the memory.
It comes out with a light, crisp-edged crust, sweet tomato sauce, melty mozzarella and the fresh, fragrant lift of basil. Children can taste a slice fresh from the oven or bring the whole pizza home to share.
