Fees are for Ottawa residents for the whole session; non-residents pay 25% more. Sessions are one hour a week, and the number of weeks varies, which explains most of the price difference. Each weekly session in the table showed 12 or 13 open spots on November 7. The City adds and changes sessions during the season, so check the listing again on registration night.

One-time workshops and programs for younger children on the same list:

  • Cupcake Decorating Workshop, Earl Armstrong Arena, ages 6–14: Saturdays January 30 and February 27, one hour, $22.74. Participants bring a dozen premade cupcakes.
  • Cupcake Decorating Workshop, 90 minutes, Hunt Club-Riverside Park, ages 8–12: Saturday, February 27, $30.17.
  • Holiday Cookie Decorating Workshop, Eva James Memorial Community Centre (Stonehaven Drive, Kanata), ages 6–12: Saturday, February 6, 1–2 p.m., $22.74.
  • Kitchen Adventures one-day class, Hintonburg, ages 10–14: Saturday, February 27, 12:30–2:45 p.m., $26.49.
  • Ages 2 to 6: Crafty Chefs (Hunt Club-Riverside Park and Greely), Cook Me a Story (Hunt Club-Riverside Park), and Kitchen Adventures with a caregiver at Minto Recreation Complex in Barrhaven and Earl Armstrong Arena, from $35.32 to $94.18.

The February 6 decorating workshop is the only kids listing in Kanata, and the list has no weekly session in Kanata, Stittsville or Westboro. For the fall season the City listed a similar spread; see our comparison of City of Ottawa cooking classes for fall 2026.

How to get a spot on November 19

  1. Create a Register Ottawa account if you are new. Returning users sign in and check family member details and the payment method.
  2. Build a Wish List from the table above and add a backup session for each child: the City advises this because first choices fill quickly.
  3. Search for “kitchen” and “cupcake” as well as “cooking”: most kids sessions are titled Kitchen Adventures.
  4. Be signed in before 9 p.m. on Thursday, November 19. In-person registration opens the next day, Friday, November 20, which is also a PA day for many Ottawa students: see PA days on November 20 and 23.
  5. If a session is full, join the waiting list and watch your email: you have 36 hours to accept a spot.

My son attended several cooking classes at Cookiddoo, and he loved every one of them. He’s now a much more confident and capable helper in the kitchen, which has been amazing to see.
