Winter break 2026 in Ottawa runs from Monday, December 21, 2026 to Friday, January 1, 2027 at both the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (OCDSB) and the Ottawa Catholic School Board (OCSB), and classes resume on Monday, January 4, 2027. That makes ten weekdays without school. Camps cap their group sizes, so booking early gives you the widest choice of days: ours takes up to 11 children per day. How to choose a winter break camp in Ottawa
A winter break camp is a day program for the weekdays when schools are closed. Five questions sort the options quickly:
- Which days run? Ask which of the ten weekdays the camp operates and whether you can book single days or only full weeks.
- Hours. Check that drop-off and pick-up times fit your work day.
- Group size and ages. Ask how many children each instructor supervises and how the age groups are split.
- Food and allergies. Find out whether lunch and snacks are included and how the camp collects allergy information before the first day.
- Cold days. Ask what the group does indoors when it is too cold to play outside.
A day at a Cookiddoo winter cooking camp
Winter Camps are one of the camp themes Cookiddoo runs through the year, alongside PA Day, March Break, Summer and Holiday Culinary Camps. Each camp day is a drop-off, hands-on cooking program at our studio at 301-150 Katimavik Rd in Kanata.
- Ages and hours: 7 to 13 years, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- Group: up to 11 children working in small teams with professional instruction.
- Food: lunch and snacks are included, and children eat what they cook, so no packed lunch is needed.
- Safety: a nut-free kitchen; after registration, families receive a dietary form for allergies and restrictions.
- To take home: a recipe booklet.
| Time | What happens |
