Friday, November 20, 2026 is a PA day for elementary students (Kindergarten to Grade 8) at the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (OCDSB) and a PD day for all grades at the Ottawa Catholic School Board (OCSB). Monday, November 23, 2026 is a second PA day at the OCDSB, this time for elementary and secondary students. OCDSB elementary families get a four-day weekend from November 20 to 23, and OCSB students are back in class on Monday the 23rd. Below are the dates by board, a cooking plan for the long weekend, and PA day options at Cookiddoo in Kanata.

A cooking day for the PA day

PA Day Camps are one of our cooking camp themes for ages 7–13, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., up to 11 kids. Call us to check the November 20 and 23 format and open spots.

A long-weekend cooking plan for kids

A four-day weekend leaves room for projects that run over two days: a dough on the first day, baking and decorating on the next. A plan that works for most families:

DayProjectKid’s job
Fri, Nov 20A shopping list and a pizza dough that rests in the fridge overnightRead the recipe aloud, weigh, measure and knead
Sat, Nov 21Pizza lunch from the rested doughRoll out, spread the sauce, choose the toppings
Sun, Nov 22Cookies or cupcakes to decorateCut shapes, pipe frosting, decorate
Mon, Nov 23 (OCDSB)Muffins or soup for the week’s school lunchesWash vegetables, portion into containers; chopping with an adult beside them from age 7

Food safety basics from Health Canada: wash hands with warm soapy water for at least 20 seconds before and after handling food, and avoid eating raw or lightly cooked eggs, including raw cookie dough and cake batter. In our classes, knife skills start at age 7; at home, keep an adult next to the child at the knife, the oven and the stove.
